There is a "gastropub" (look it up) here in Wichita that has found a way around the law and you can play poker there....or at least what they call KANDU.

I talked to the owner today.  In KS it is illegal to gamble on a game of chance.  They play KANDU which is texas hold 'em but before they deal they fan the cards, turn them over for about 1 second then cut the deck and show you the bottom card.  It NOW has become a game of skill because if you can remember the cards (you can't...especially because you don't know where the cut will go) you are using skill.  They went to the KS gambling people and got it approved.  There are thousands that flow through their nightly.  They never close.  He patented the game and he said there are several places in several states contacting him to purchase the rights to play it.  I told him he's sitting on a fortune.  Our UPS man was he big winner last night...he bought in for $600.00 and left with over 10K dollars.  They have tables where there is just a 40.00 min to play all the way up to the big boys.  They also have a lot of tourny's.

Sounds like the Gaming Commission are a bunch of retards.  How does seeing one card make it skill.  It is still a game of chance.  He should run with it while he can.

No, because you trying to memorize the cards adds skill and takes out the chance...even thought it IS virtually impossible...it's a loop hole.

They got the gaming people to buy off on it....and got a patent on the game...

One of the first things they did was have a poker game for a fund raiser for the fraternal order of police..... Cheesy  Seriously...

Give them credit for creativity and finding a loop hole.

I give them credit, but I have to decredit the gaming nerds.  So we play a game of pick a number between 1 and 50.  I will give you one number that I will not pick, does it become a game of skill or is it still chance.  It is still chance you now only have 49 numbers to pick from instead of 50.

They don't show just one card the way I understand it.  I thought I read where it said they fan the cards out to see them all, THEN they cut the deck and show the bottom card.  If you have a photographic memory, knowing what the bottom card is  you would then know the order of the whole deck wouldn't you?  I don't have a photographic memory, so I don't know.

If they do fan the deck then yes it would be a memory thing.  I would be screwed.
